James Edward Autrey, Sr.
On August 14, 1948, A Great Man of God was born. James Edward Autrey was the first of four born to the union of James Albert Autrey and Callie Mae Autrey. (Both parents, Callie Mae Brown and James Albert Autrey preceded him in death.) He peacefully returned to his heavenly father on November 5, 2022.
God blessed him with good health and allowed him to see the promised 3 scores and 10 plus some more. While it seems to us that his story ends swiftly and abruptly that’s just not so. God only loaned him to us for a season, but his story isn’t over. He’s planted seeds and while he reaped there’s so much more to grow. May the life that he lived (and the little that we have shared) speak for him so that we all may see and glorify the father which is in heaven.
The charge of continuing and remembering his legacy will also be carried out by: siblings: Willie Fred Autrey (Helen), Shirley Autrey, Barbara Autrey, Melvin Brown, Lisa Harden, and Yolanda Brown; plus siblings in love: Ruth Lett, Sherry Atkins, Mary Alice Harris, and Wayne Harris. Many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. A man well-loved and well-liked whose legacy and lasting impact will be cherished for years to come.
The Family of James Autrey Sr. would like to thank everyone for your encouraging words, telephone calls, messages, cards, floral and food offerings, and other special gestures during this difficult time. You have truly been a blessing to us. A more formal acknowledgement will be made at a later date. Thank you. – The Autrey Family
