Michael "Big Slate" Salter
Michael “Big Slate” Salter was born on May 8, 1967, to Voncile Salter and the late David Dukes Sr. He attended Evergreen High School and was a member of the Centennial #1 Missionary Baptist Church. On December 16, 2022, Michael took his final rest at the Evergreen Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his son, Ka’Rahn M. Salter; father, David Dukes Sr., and grandparents.
He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted and loving mother, Voncile (George) Davis; four sons, Shannon Salter, Kennan Watson, Korion Salter, and Johnathan Gray; one grandson, Sekani Karmelo Salter; five siblings, Rodney Salter, David (Shirley) Dukes Jr., Tonya (Russell) Bozeman, Shelia (Charles) Smith, and Frederick Dukes; four aunts, Johnnie Mae Hall, Brenda Dennis, Mary Ann Watson, and Queenetta Banks; four uncles, Eugene Salter, Willie Marion Salter, Edward Salter, and Benjamin Salter, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
We, the family of the late Michael “Big Slate” Salter, would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation and thanks for the enormous outpouring of love and support during the passing of our loved one. Your calls, visits, prayers, expressions of sympathy, food, flowers, kind words, hugs, and kisses will always be in our hearts. May God richly bless each and every one of you is our prayer.
