Mr. Charles E. Philyaw
Mr. Charles Edward Philyaw was born on Wednesday, June 29, 1955, to the late Willie and Willie Mae Philyaw in Evergreen Alabama. Charles exited his earthly life on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at West Florida Hospital in Pensacola, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents (Willie and Willie Mae Philyaw), sister (Juanita Philyaw-Gillespie), brother, (Willie Philyaw, Jr.) and a nephew, (Talmus Philyaw).
Charles joined Jerusalem No.1 Baptist Church at an early age. Charles remained a member until his untimely death.
Charles was educated in the Conecuh County School System and graduated from Evergreen High School Class of 1973. He furthered his education at Ed Reid State Technical College in Auto Mechanics. He was employed with Ivey Chevrolet as head mechanic for many years. Charles received a Master Mechanics Certificate in Detroit, Michigan. After mastering the mechanic field, he decided to master the field of trucking. Charles became employed by Poole Trucking Company as a long distance driver. He received many awards and commendations for his driving safety and expertise. After many, many, years of driving in the trucking industry, he pursued other jobs and opportunities until his health would no longer allow. Charles always showed great contentment with every skill he “MASTERED.” There were no strangers to Charles. He was known to help anyone he could. For this reason, he was well loved by his family and in the community.
Charles leaves to cherish his unique laugh and precious memories, three devoted children: son, Untabious (Renee) Philyaw of Fountain, Colorado, daughters, Shaquana Philyaw and Keyetta Philyaw, both of Pensacola, Florida; three sisters: Annie Lois Allen, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Louise Barr, Miami, Florida and Betty (William) Shaw, Wyandanch, New York; two brothers: John Philyaw and Larry (Callie) Philyaw, Montgomery, Alabama; Greg (Lori) Floyd, Long Beach, California, (a cousin who was raised as a brother); three remaining aunts: Lula Philyaw, Castleberry, Alabama, Rosa B. Darden, Pennsauken, New Jersey, and Sarah Watts, San Bernardino, California; seven grandchildren: Damond Philyaw-Johnson, Tedrick Philyaw, Shadaizjha Young, Jahvee Philyaw, Azzia Philyaw, Keasia Philyaw-Roland, and Dashaun Philyaw-Roland. A host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many, many friends.
