Mr. Earnest L. Benjamin
Brother Earnest Lee Benjamin was born to the late Ned and Annie D. Benjamin on June 15, 1943. The Lord called him home on the evening of January 2, 2019 at the University of Alabama Birmingham (UAB) Hospital.
Brother Benjamin became a member of Sandy Grove Missionary Baptist Church early in life under the leadership of the late Reverend C.M. Stinson. He was a faithful member of the Sandy Grove Male Chorus and member of the Free Masonry of Johnsonville Lodge.
Brother Benjamin was an honest hardworking soul that was always willing to help those he came in contact with. He worked as a lumber grader for over thirty years at T.R. Miller before eventually retiring. His years in retirement were spent volunteering in the community and spending time with family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of love and hard-work. He sought to be a help, even as his health declined. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
Brother Benjamin leave to cherish his memories, his children Arthur Ray Benjamin of Birmingham, AL, Jackie L. Smith of Birmingham, AL, Janice M. Hills (Keith) of Harvey, LA, and Melinda F. Richardson (Jamuhl) of Birmingham, AL; his brother, Robert L Benjamin of Brewton, AL; his sisters, Eula Mae Benjamin of Rocky Mount, NC and Elizabeth Benjamin of Evergreen, AL; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Brother Earnest Benjamin was preceded in death by his parents, Ned and Annie D Benjamin; wife, Rancie Benjamin; son, Robert L Benjamin; grandson, Ronnie Lewis Smith; great granddaughter, Jakeela Palmer; sister, Edna Williams and brother, Willie James Benjamin.
We, the family of BROTHER EARNEST LEE BENJAMIN, would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation for the many expressions of love, kindness and concern shown to us during this time of bereavement. We thank God for placing each of you in our lives. It is our continued prayer that God will forever keep and bless each of you.
