Mr. Roy Marshall
Roy Marshall was the first of seven children born to the late Emanuel and Fannie Marshall on June 24, 1940 in Conecuh County, Alabama. Roy confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Second Brooklyn Zion Baptist Church in Brooklyn, Alabama. There he served faithfully as a Sunday School Teacher and Usher until his sudden death. He was also a faithful Honorary Usher at Second Bethlehem Baptist Church; who loved him as their own. Roy was employed for a number of years at T.R. Miller Lumber Mill (Brewton, AL) and Alatex (Andalusia, AL) before he became employed with the UPS - United Parcel Service (Evergreen, AL). He worked with UPS for 30 years; after which he retired on October 3, 1998.
Roy was a dedicated, dynamic and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and family member. He excreted the same compassion to his community by being involved in many organizations, such as the Brooklyn Volunteer Fire Department and Operation Round Up.
God called Roy from labor to reward in the early morning hours of Friday, December 14, 2012. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Lillis Jackson Marshall; two devoted sons, Reginald Marshall of Camp Spring, MD and United States Army 1SG Eric (Anita) Marshall of Sembach, Germany; three lovely grandchildren, Isaiah, Joseph and Naomi Marshall, all of Germany; four brothers, Jerome (Mae) Marshall of Andalusia, AL, Andrew Marshall of Mansfield, OH, Hubert (Gloria) Marshall of Brewton, AL and Grealy (JoAnn) Marshall of Clinton, MD; two sisters, Eunice (George) Johnson of Andalusia, AL and Juanita (Joe) Brown of Montgomery, AL; a sister-in-law, Anna Poindexter of Brewton, AL; a brother-in-law, Theocia “Tina” Elmore of Brewton, AL; an aunt, Ira Lee Smith of River Falls, AL; a devoted friend, John “Law” Culliver and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family of Roy Marshall sincerely thank everyone for their comforting expressions, words of sympathy rendered through prayers, telephone calls, flowers and other acts of kindness. Words will never express our sincere gratitude during our loss. Please continue to keep us in your prayers as our hearts attempt to heal.
