Mrs. Josephine Thompson
Josephine Thompson was born November 15, 1939 to Joseph and Zelma Lark in Evergreen AL. She was the third of thirteen children.
Education and Work Experience:
- Attended Conecuh County training School where she was a majorette in the Eagles Marching Band.
- At an early age she Old Field AME Zion Baptist Church
- Relocated to Boston, MA where she received her BS from UMASS
- Member and Chair of the Trustee Board at Concord Baptist Church in Boston, MA
- Worked for the Boston Redevelopment Authority (BRA) as a Senior Redevelopment Specialist where she was responsible for planning and establishing housing for low income families.
- Retired from the BRA, relocated back to Evergreen, AL and joined Second Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church
- At Second Mount Zion she was a member and past president of the Women’s Missionary Committee
- She was a member and past chapter president of Neoteric
She was an amazing God fearing woman who lived her life by the Word. A woman who would give you her heart and help you in any way that she could. She was a keeper and protector of all your secrets.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Mazio, Alphonso, Joseph, Shelton and Robert Lark. She leaves to cherish her memories her devoted husband Harold of Evergreen, AL, 3 sons Alvin of Boston, MA, Calvin of Evergreen, AL, Alphonso Peters of Evergreen, AL; one daughter, Cheyenne McCall of Upper Marlboro, MD; two Stepchildren, Brenda (Malcom) Stuckey of Marlboro, MA and Kenneth Thompson of Cambridge, MA; 2 grandchildren, Ian Thompson-Haynes and Jaylynn Battle; one brother, Curtis (Sherry) Lark of Columbus, GA; six sisters, Esther Mae Evans of Evergreen, AL, Annie Pearl (Charles) Thomas of Evergreen, AL, Barbara Ray Johnson of Evergreen, AL Shirley Anne Tuft of Farmington Hills, MI, Velma Jean (Larry) Kyser of Lansing, MI and Ida Lee (Arnold) Harvey of Randolph, MA; two sister-n- laws, Annette Lark of Evergreen, AL and Esther Cadel of Chicago, IL; one goddaughter Deanna Nevlous ; devout cousins Pastor Eva McIntyre, Bishop Elmo Lark and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
