Mrs. Lillie S. Malone
Mrs. Lillie Stallworth Malone entered this world on October 15, 1947 through the union of Claude Stallworth and Julia Betts Stallworth in Evergreen, Alabama. Bright and articulate, she graduated from Conecuh County Training School, Class of 1966, with honors. From a tender age she took her Christian faith to heart, and used her faith to anchor her dreams of succeeding and eventually building a legacy through entrepreneurship/real estate and healthcare services that would carry her for years to come.
In her early years she worked at Vanity Fair and later moved from Evergreen, Alabama to New York to gain access to opportunities for a better life. There, she joined Cosmopolitan AME Church and successfully pursued a career in healthcare as a result of her training at Bronx Community College. Education was her bedrock of opportunity. She eventually, landed positions working for two of the largest hospitals in New York (Calvary and Jacob Hospitals) and did so simultaneously. Often recognized for her high level of care and dedication, she distinguished herself as going above and beyond to aid her patients. She was known for her spirit of excellence, great sense of humor, well-rounded personality, immaculate fashion sense, professional business wit, preparing cakes and meals to numerous churches in the community, sewing handkerchiefs/pillow cases/curtains, appreciation of jazz, gospel, and R&B music, and landing 1st place in pageants and hat shows. She had a great love for family; she knew how to “work a room” and aspired for all to be great.
Decades later, she moved from New York back to Alabama and joined the First Baptist Church family. There, she sang in the choir, served as a deaconess, and missionary. Upon her return to Alabama, she also opened a successful private caregiving service for ailing patients.
In March of 2002 Lillie married Lewis C. Malone and remained a devoted wife until a diagnosis of Dementia caused her health to fail. She’d overcome cancer two decades prior and was no stranger to battles. Memories of her will echo through her husband, Lewis C. Malone; two dedicated and loving children, Jacques Christian Stallworth and Melissa Camille Stallworth; a host of stepchildren; two devout stepchildren, Edna (Robert) Davis and Julia (Clarence) Hudson; one sister, Lucenda Stallworth-King; three brothers, Edward (Eria) Stallworth, Claude Stallworth and Walter (Wiley) Stallworth; a dedicated god-brother, Wendell Byrd and a host of loving nieces and loving nephews, a dedicated Class of 1966 classmates, warm-hearted church family, friends, and a special friend, Vera Jackson. Siblings that preceded her in death were Grady King, Odessa “Lou” Stallworth, and Barbara Johnson-Nettles.
