Ms. Ada Davis
On Thursday morning, June 21, 2012, 8:00 a.m., Ada Johnson Bradley Davis departed this life at D.W. McMillian Hospital surrounded by her family and their love. Her death was quiet and peaceful.
Ada was the third and second surviving child of the late Robert Johnson and Margaret Davis Johnson. She was born on August 9, 1922 in the community of Old Fish Pond near Brewton, Alabama. She was preceded in death by a son, Willie C. Bradley; her father, Robert Johnson; mother, Margaret Johnson; sister, Elvira Culliver; brothers, Collins, Charlie, Robert and Zeno Johnson.
She was married twice and had eight children. Her first marriage was to the late Willie Bradley in 1940. From their union three children were born: Carrie, Robert Earl and Willie C. Bradley. Her second marriage was to the late Robert Barto Davis. From their union five children were born: Annie Lois, Robin, Randolph, Richard and Ronnie. She was a loving and devoted mother to all eight of her children.
Ada accepted Christ at an early age and joined Second St. John Baptist Church in Brewton, Alabama. She was employed at the Judy Bond Blouse Factory until she retired and became a fulltime housewife.
Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Annie (John) Garner and Carrie (John) Moncrease; four sons, Robert (Mary) Bradley, Robin (Autherine) Davis, Randolph Davis, Richard (Ella) Davis and Ronnie (Jennifer) Davis; two step-daughters, Londa Davis and Mable Culliver; one loving sister, Lois Crook; 21 grandchildren; a number of great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Bernice Bradley; sister-in-law, Gussie Car; brother-in-law, Kyler Benjamin, and a host of other relatives and friends (one dear, Clara Hughes).
We, the family of Ada Johnson Davis would like to thank family, friends, and the community for the sympathy and compassion shown during our time of sorrow. Maybe you spoke kind words, prayers, visited, prepared a dish, sent flowers, or telephoned, etc. We are grateful! Special thanks are extended to Dr. Joe Terrell and the staffs of West Gate Village, D.W. McMillian Emergency Room and ICU for your tender care and attention you gave our mother.
