Ms. Annie Paul
Mother Annie Laura Wilson Paul was born the only daughter of the late Queen Ester Wilson and James Commander Alexander Wilson. Our mother was born in Newton County Mississippi on May 7, 1918. On August 30, 2012 at 4:55pm, she answered the call and reunited with her husband, the late Brother Aaron Paul, Sr.
Also embracing her with open arms were her children, Lenzie Simon Paul (1993), Robert James Paul (1982), Annie Lois Paul (2008), Aaron Paul, Jr. (2002) and Bettye Jean Paul (1955). Her only sibling, Woodrow Wilson, also predeceased her.
Our Mother met her future husband Aaron at Bullard Still, a turpentine camp, and they were united in the sanctity of marriage on June 23, 1935. During that union, God entrusted them with the lives of 10 children whom they were very proud of. They served each other faithfully for 73 years until he received his life reward on November 7, 2008.
Mother Paul often wondered what would happen to her after the loss of her husband and she came into her own. She was a regular traveler and was always in the car whenever it moved. She would fondly say, “I stay on ready. I just jump in the gap.” To know her was to love her and if you knew her well, you knew she loved cheese curls, watching Everybody Loves Raymond and shopping at Dirt Cheap.
She faithfully sent up timber for her loved ones as she served at the Spiritual True Holiness Church under the leadership of Overseer Brenetta Harris.
Celebrating the memory of her 94 years of life are her children: Sammie Paul (Pearlie) of Theodore, AL; Rose M. Evans (A.J.) of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Wiley A. Paul (Ernestine) of St. Peter’s, MO; Wayne G. Paul (Verlinda) of Atlanta, GA; and E. Michelle Jimmerson (Kenneth) of Montgomery, AL.
Mother Paul also cherished her 15 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. She also leaves a sister-in-law, Alfretta Smith of Hempstead, N.Y.
We would like to extend our sincere and deepest sympathy to our cousins for the loss of your precious mother. She and uncle Aaron and Lois were always hospitable when we visited Brewton. Always welcoming us into their comfortable home and feeding us well. She will truly be missed. May the God of all comfort help all of you through this most difficult times. We will remember all of you in our prayers. A mother cannot be replaced. But her love, her caring, her sharing, and pleasant memories will always be in your hearts.
