Ms. Annie Ree Wiley
Annie Ree Wiley was born April 7, 1946 in Castleberry, Alabama to the late Willie Wiley, Jr. and the late Dorothy Wiley.
Annie accepted Christ at an early age and attended the family church, Church of the Living God, Pillar Ground and Truth, where she was a faithful member until her health failed. She graduated from Conecuh County Training School in 1965.
She met the late Monarch Knight and was blessed with three children.
Annie worked diligently as an x-ray technician at Evergreen Medical Center for 38 years prior to retirement. She had an intrinsic desire to defend the civil rights of all. As a result, she was an active participant in the National Association for the Advancement of Color People (NAACP), which she was later honored for her dedication and service. In addition, she was actively involved in the Alabama Democratic Conference (ADC) for many years. After retirement, she was passionate about spending time with the loves of her life, her grandchildren and one great grand child. Moreover, she was their biggest support at all of their sporting events. She did not only spend quality time with her grandchildren and great grand child, she extended her kindness and love for children throughout the community. She always entertained a house full of children and was affectionately known as “Granny Ree”.
Annie Ree departed her earthly life for Eternal Life on Monday, January 27, 2014. she was preceded in death by her brother Bobby Lee Wiley and sister, Annie Jewel Nunley,
She leaves to rejoice in her memories one son, Curtis (Shelia) Wiley, two daughters, Felicia Wiley Parham and Terri Lynn Walker, all of Evergreen, AL; two God-daughters, Teresa Young and Vera Thomas of Evergreen, AL; a God mother, Thelma Davis of Castleberry, AL; one brother-in-law, Wilson R. Nunley of Los Angeles CA; ten grandchildren, Curtis Richardson, Marquis Wiley, LaPrinceton Wiley, Monarch Walker, Lawrence Walker, Dasan Floyd, LaPorsha Walker, LaPrecious Walker, LaTaga Walker all of Evergreen, AL and Lexis (Chris) of Ft. Hood, TX; one great grand child, Cordarius Richardson of Evergreen, AL, three aunts; Voncille (Otis) Myrick and Icephine Crosby, both of Pensacola, FL, Miami Castleberry of Cincinnati, OH; two uncles, James (Minnie) Wiley and Arthur (Hattie) Wiley, Sr., both of Castleberry, AL; devoted nieces and nephews; Pam (Willie) Jones, Jazmine Jones, Fabrice Jones of Brewton, AL, Jeanetta Nunley, Brad Nunley, of Montgomery, AL, Joseph Ikner and Justin Ikner of Castleberry, AL, Charlene Sanders and Jacqueline Sanders of Marietta, GA, Peyton Bradley and Madison Bradley of Birmingham, AL and Bryon Bradley of Abingdon, MD; very devoted friends, Myra Ikner, Linda Burt, Annie Presley, Mary Smith, Euleen Carson, Ellen Holt, Liza Jane Lee, Annie Ruth Broughton, Janelle Riley, Robert Robinson, James McMillian, John Henry Goodson, Norris Grooms, all of Evergreen, AL, Earlie Mae Brazil of Fort Polk, LA and a host of other relatives and friends and an exceptional Church family.
Annie Ree was truley loved and will be truley missed by many especially me. She was another one of my favorite cousins. I have so many wonderfull memories of us together. Thank you god for putting her in my life.I love you and miss you REE. May you rest in internal peace. JENNIFER from cincinnati
