Ms. Gloria R. Samuel
Sister Gloria R. Samuel was born December 15, 1951 to the late Mose and Louise Riley. She was the youngest of eight siblings. Five siblings, (brothers) Ollie Riley, Mose Riley (sisters) Mary Louise Blue, Essie Brown and Earnestine Askew all preceded her in death.
She was educated in Conecuh County (Evergreen, Alabama) and she attended Southside Elementary School and graduated from Thurgood Marshall High School in 1970. She furthered her education at Reid State Technical College in Evergreen, Alabama and received a degree in Business Administration.
Gloria served as a devoted member of the Mt. Zion AME Zion Church for many years as the Church Secretary and Choir President.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her children, Sheila (Gary) Brown of Atlanta, GA, Kendell (Marcie) Riley of Memphis, TN, Brandon Samuel of Evergreen, AL, Quinton Bowens of Newport, VA and Ava Samuel of Atlanta, GA; eight grandchildren, Gary Brown, II, Riley Brown, Kiersten Riley, Audrianna Samuel, Jemison Samuel, Ila Samuel, Quinton Bowens, Jr. and Marcelluous Bowens; two god-children, T-Ashia and Anaya Scott; two sisters, Bettye Williams and Kathleen Mitchell, both of Los Angeles, CA; very dear brother and sisters-in-law; a devoted niece, Ola Mae Brown of Evergreen, AL; a devoted nephew, Bernard Riley of Evergreen, AL and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
