Ms. Katie Bonner
Katie D. Bonner was born January 22, 1925 to Rebecca and Major Bonner in Midway, Monroe County, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings: Earnest, Lucy, Henry, Bernita and Rebecca.
Katie attended school at Beatrice, now J. F. Shields High School. After high school Katie furthered her education at Alabama State University and graduated with a B.S. Degree.
During her stay in Midway she united with Williams Chapel CME Church. Katie taught school for five years in Conecuh County then she moved to Cleveland, Ohio. She joined Corey United Methodist Church. She went back to school and received her degree in business. After which she worked for DHR for over twenty years then retired. After her retirement she moved to Evergreen, Alabama where she joined St. Paul United Methodist Church. There she served as Pastor Parish Relations Committee Chairperson until her health failed. Katie was a very active person in her church and community. She served on the Library Board, Retired Teachers, Arbor Day and NAACP. She was loved by all that knew her.
Precious memories is left for her sister, Besma Bonner of Evergreen, Alabama; nieces and nephews, Lloyd, Rodney, Edward, Lillian and Rebecca, all of New York; her church family; other relatives and many friends.
The family of the late Ms. Katie D. Bonner would like to extend our sincere appreciation for your kindness shown during the illness and death of their loved one. Thank you for your prayers, visits, calls, flowers, whatever the part. Thank you from our hearts.
